Vintage Design
Piano stool dating from the 19th century, made of wood with a black patina.
The seat, subtly cupped, has light and fine pyrography representing large leaves.
A young servant, seated cross-legged, forms the body of this stool, into which a threaded rod is inserted to adjust the height of the seat. His right hand, placed on the base, maintains it and balances it. The boy covered with a fringed cape on his head and back, supports on his left shoulder the top of the seat.
The servant’s face is turned upwards, revealing a short, curly head of hair.
The whole rests on a wide and thick vegetal base.
This pianist’s stool, which can be raised and is very original, is somewhat reminiscent of chimeras in architecture, describing the fantastic, mythical or grotesque figures used for decorative purposes on monuments.
