1990s ShackletonThomas Round Cherry Extending Table

An absolutely beautiful vintage ShackletonThomas Round Extending Table made in cherry from 1991. This is in spectacular condition with no visible scratches or wear.

In its closed form, it is a 48″ round table, perfect for everyday meals with a family of 2-4. With the addition of the three leaves 20″, you can host a large dinner party at a 108″ long table. A fifth leg supports the center when all three leaves are in. The previous owners used it most of the time with two leaves in, so the patina is consistent across the wood. The third leaf, however, has been protected from sunlight and is a much darker cherry.

ShackletonThomas has been making fine furniture in Vermont, one piece at a time, since 1987. They are based in Bridgewater, Vermont making made-to-order furniture with traditional construction. All pieces use mortise and tenon joinery, as shown in this piece at the legs, where the hand carved wood pins are visible. A bead runs along the curved apron of the table and the tabletop is hand planed and finished with a thumbnail edge profile. The sliders for the leaves are all wood and the two end halves are secured with a brass latch. The table is dated 1991 and signed by the maker.
