Traditional dress from the South East of Asia most likely Philippines, possibly Bagobo.
This fantastic set comprises an open fronted jacket, purse, hat and pants (similar to Sawal).
They have all been laboriously hand crafted with the most spectacular attention to detail, the outfit must have taken weeks to create, it is truly a sight to behold, the majority of the scarce amount of pieces such as this are usually found in museums.
The base fabric for each piece is made from a cotton like substance possibly the native abacá and appears to have some ground silk infused, each piece has a woven crochet fringing of bronze metal thread.
The hand embroidery is amazing and has elaborate patterns and designs all hand sewn with metal threads of beautiful tones along with tiny metal mesh links.
Condition:
The quality is very good there are a few areas of crochet mesh that has come loose but this in no way detracts, some signs of use and wear, the trousers require a cord to be wearable / pulled as this is missing.
