Vintage Design
This is an exceptional folk art bridal cupboard from South-East Germany (Fichtelgebirge). What is special about this copy is the sparse painting, which is done in a perfect color. The main color is ocher yellow, but there are beautiful red, brown and green shades in between which give the whole a very warm appearance. This copy dates approximately from 1850 and is still in good condition considering its age. The paint is quite weathered and worn, but the condition of the cabinet is still neat and suitable for daily use. Only new legs have ever been installed, but otherwise the piece of furniture is completely original from that period. The interior layout consists of a rod and a shelf. If desired, you can easily add more shelves. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. 182cm high, 120cm wide, 57cm deep.
